“Cat Five” is a 34 foot Glacier Bay Catamaran. We have surround indoor seating and an outdoor area for your viewing pleasure. With wide expansive windows that wrap around the boat, you can see the beauty from inside or out. We have a flushing indoor marine toilet.

Cat Five Scenic Tours is a small veteran-owned group tour of 1-6 people out of Seward, Alaska. We specialize in showing our guests Resurrection Bay, Kenai Fjords, and the surrounding area with a more personal touch.

Don Hughes

US Army veteran

Cpt. Don’s first duty assignment was in Delta Junction, Alaska, where he fell in love with this great state! He has over 30 years of boating experience. He is an Army veteran and Alaska resident who loves the outdoors.

Cpt. Don is USCG OUPV licensed and has been a fishing charter captain for the past 8 years. He enjoys sharing his love of the outdoors and the beauty of Alaska’s scenery! He decided to start a small sightseeing business to make it a more personalized experience for our visitors and residents alike.

Avaliable Tours

  • A perfect introduction to Alaska’s beautiful scenery and wildlife, this half-day experience offers breathtaking views, close-up encounters with ice formations, and a relaxed pace that lets you fully take in the scenery. Whether you choose a morning or afternoon departure, each tour is designed to highlight the beauty of the surrounding landscape without feeling rushed. Tours run from 8:00–11:30 AM or 1:00–4:30 PM and accommodate 2–6 guests per tour.

  • For those looking to immerse themselves in the beauty of Resurrection Bay, Kenai Fjords, and wildlife opportunities, this full-day tour allows for a deeper exploration of Alaska’s glacier country. With more time on the water, you’ll experience a wider range of landscapes, discover quieter viewpoints, and enjoy a more immersive adventure. A provided lunch is included, allowing you to relax and take in the surroundings without interruption. Tours run from 8:00 AM–3:00 PM and accommodate 3–6 guests per tour.

  • This fully customizable experience offers the most flexibility and personalization. Designed around your interests, the private tour allows you to choose specific locations to explore and move at your own pace throughout the day. With a dedicated guide and a more intimate setting, it’s the ideal option for those seeking a tailored, one-of-a-kind experience. A provided lunch is included. Available for 1–6 guests per tour.

All tour prices are $189 per guest (Half-Day, 2–6 guests); $400 per guest (Full-Day, 3–6 guests); or $2,500 total (Private, up to 6 guests), plus a 7% Kenai Peninsula Borough tax and a $3.50 City of Seward Passenger Fee per guest.

Just a note about a fabulous scenic tour out of Seward Alaska aboard the Cat Five tour boat. Enjoy seeing lots of birds, sea lions, otters, whales, dolphins, glaciers and drinks with ancient ice. The cat is extremely comfortable. Charters can be half day or full day and can be chartered for private groups of 6 or less. If you are looking for a more leisurely scenic cruise then you must check out Cat Five it’s the best I have been on In my 50 years in Alaska.

  • Plan on meeting us at our dock slip ___ 15 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time. Unfortunately, if you are late, the tour can not wait for you.

  • Yes, kids are welcome to come on the tour; however, a ticket must be purchased for all children, including infants.

  • Sadly, no. U.S. Coast Guard law limits us to a maximum of 6 passengers per vessel, including children.

  • If you would like to show your appreciation for your captain, feel free to tip. A 10-20% gratuity is customary if you feel we deserve it.

  • Yes, we have a private, flushing head. Your captain will brief you on how to use it.
